I bought an old Sterling brand treadle sewing machine with the timber cabinet and machine inside it on ebay for about 50 bucks. The timber top was too badly damaged to restore or repair and the machine was sadly extremely rusty. So both were put out for kerb side clean up. The frame was a little dull and rusty but a good clean and sand and some rust converter (Feronite) painted on as a precaution and she was ready for a couple of coats of black spray paint. I have had this vintage suitcase for about 9 years now and it used to be displayed in our guest bedroom but was removed when I painted the bedroom suite and added a mirror to the dresser top. I think it looks kind of cool on top of this frame as a hall table. I have not affixed it to the sewing frame yet as I am still thinking about whether I should make a timber top for the frame and sell it. I like it in our hallway but hubby is not so sure. Not really his thing!
