How to Make a Cool Gift Out of an Old Scarf

I had this old scarf that was so out of shape it reached down to my knees. I was planning on donating it when I had a light bulb moment after seeing a friend's idea. She had taken fleece fabric, cut the edges and turned it into a fringe blanket.

My scarf already had the fringe.

All I would need to do was tie it.

I folded the scarf and tied the fringe.

There was also a little cutting involved. And a bit of tv watching... And I created...

...a pocket! I stuffed this pocket with a pillow, and sewed it on one side.

And I had a cool, fringed pillow with very little sewing. Easy on the eyes and easier on the pocket! I'm supposed to give this as a gift but now that it's done I'm thinking of keeping it.

Now here's an idea. What if we make a gift each month, 12 gifts in all. Then come December we will have created 12 Christmas gifts, without any stress or rushing. My pillow is part of this blog hop. Click below and you can see the other incredible handmade gifts we'll be making each month.
