Make Rosemary & Lavender Carpet Powder

Hi there, Hometalk friends! I'm snowed in over here in the DC suburbs and going stir crazy, so I decided to get a little cleaning done today. I'm sharing one of my favorite scents and homemade carpet powder mixtures...rosemary and lavender!
I think that one of the easiest ways to give a room a pick-me-up is by using deodorizing carpet powder before vacuuming. For years I've used one of the major store-bought brands, and it worked really well, but last year I ran out and decided to use plain old baking soda. After all, it's the major ingredient in the store-bought stuff, and it's super cheap. By making the carpet powder yourself, you can also decide on the scent and how strong or weak you want it to be.

To make this mixture, you'll need baking soda, lavender essential oil, rosemary, a food processor, and a plastic baggie.
Measure your baking soda and chop up your rosemary in a food processor.

The dump the baking soda and rosemary into a plastic baggie, drop in a few drops of lavender essential oil, and mix it up.
That's it--you're done!
Sprinkle it on your carpet, wait 10-15 minutes, and vacuum it up. Enjoy your sweet-smelling room.

You can easily customize the amount of baking soda and lavender oil/rosemary based on how strong you want the scent to be. Check out my full post below for the measurements and amounts I used, as well as some other suggested scent combinations!
