Warm and Toasty Fireplace Makeover

This brick 1980's fireplace was in desperate need of a makeover. When my home was vandalized and the old fireplace insert was destroyed, I saw an opportunity to make good come from bad.

I loved the original mantle, so I knew that was a keeper. I added an arrester and had the chimney swept. After several coats of paint and a lot of hard work, I'm thrilled with the results. What do you think?
