Using Up Cycled Fence Wood to create this Queen headboard & Bedside Table.

Carol's daughter asked for a rustic headboard her Christmas present. After a little shopping around, Randy (her dad) knew it was easy enough to make & would be a very special gift to make for her. And boy, did it come out beautiful.

After measuring the size of the bed, in this case it is a double size headboard. Next lining up a few up cycled fence boards for the height, it was decided to use 5 boards. Next step, we cut 1/2 x 2" wood to create a frame to support. And then the boards were cut to fit the width of the headboard and then screwed in together with the frame.

A clear satin sealer/stain by Minwax was brushed all over the headboard.

The same steps were used to create the hanging side table except on a much smaller scale. And the frame at the bottom of the shelf top was stained because it would be visible. Eye Screws were spray painted black & attached to each corner.

Securing a hook in the ceiling, (the kind with a circle end) to tie the rope & hang the table to the desired height.

The string lights draped across the headboard is a stunning & warm look.

Simple, Elegant & filled with warmth & love. The bedroom looks rustic & elegant & beautiful. It all came together without spending a lot either. Our kind of Frug-Elegance style! Do come to see the original post for more DIY details & pictures.
