I jumped at the chance to participate in this month's Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest when I learned that the sponsor was General Finishes. I love their products and couldn't wait to try their new line of chalk paints. I picked up this little vintage chest from Craigslist and thought it would be perfect for the contest's theme, "A Fresh Start."It doesn't look too bad in this photo, but the finish was definitely worn. I removed the top, stripped the finish, sanded and then applied one coat of General Finishes java gel stain. I sealed it with a topcoat for durability.
To the rest, I sanded and then applied two coats of General Finishes chalk paint in "Key West Blue." I shined up the original hardware with Brasso and applied a light coat of Rub n Buff in antique gold to even out the color.
