The kitchen countertop in our condo in Florida was in sad shape. It was stained, pink (that was the original color choice 20 years ago) and just plain ugly! Hubby and I had looked to re-laminating, or replacing the countertop. The expense and mess had us looking at all options!
Since we are snowbirds in Florida, time was of the essence. We didn't have months to redo the countertop (this was a mini kitchen lift including new sink, faucet, and painting the cabinets), and this isn't a high-end unit.

Starter granite looked fine for our purposes, but the cost worked out to approximately $2800 for our small countertop. That did include granite, two cuts, undermount sink, installation and demo.

After looking at a ton of granite places (they all start to blur), Hubby finally decided "we" could redo the countertop ourselves with a refinishing product, and save a lot of money.

Well, he was right. The entire countertop project took 4 days and cost about $250 for the countertop products. It was also pretty darned easy for a DIYer with any skills at all.
